AS the Zimbabwe national cricket team gears up for the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup to be co-hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in February next month, 4 May Exclusive Designer Wear a clothing company has taken the initiative to sponsor formal wear to the national team players.

Speaking at the handover of the suits to the national team players at Harare Sports Club yesterday, 4 May Exclusive Designer Wear Head of Sales, Taurai Jani said he was grateful to be associated with Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC).

He said, “We have been in existence for more than five years and we are happy to be given an opportunity to supply suits for the cricket national team.”

ZC enjoys a multitude of sponsorship deals; 4 May Exclusive Designer Wear joins a long line of notable sponsors, Faith Wear, MetBank, Castle Lager, Coca-Cola, Energade and Sakunda Energy among others.

“This is our first time to be associated with Zimbabwe Cricket and we hope in future we will do better,” remarked Jani before the handover of the regalia to the players.

ZC Deputy Managing Director, Wilfred Mukondiwa who represented the Managing Director Ozias Bvute received the formal wear on behalf of ZC, the technical staff and the players.

In his acceptance speech, Mukondiwa said, “Zimbabwe Cricket would like to thank you for joining the list of our sponsors and ZC becomes a brand which you will be happy to be associated with.

“ZC is a brand which is growing and I assure you that you have decided to invest on fertile grounds,” added Mukondiwa.

Raymond Price one of Zimbabwe’s experienced players represented the team’s captain, Elton Chigumbura and the entire players to thank 4 May Exclusive Designer Wear for their kind gesture towards the national team.

Meanwhile, the national team is expected to play warm up matches against South Africa and Ireland before they face the ICC World Cup defending champions Australia in their world cup opening match on February 21 2011.
