THE Ian Gorowa coached Mamelodi Sundowns appear to have put their title race back on track but that momentum could be derailed but a growing number of injuries in the Brazilians camp.

Defender Luvhengo Mungomeni has been in the medical treatment room after a groin injury he sustained in their 2-0 away victory to Mpumalanga Black Aces. As a result of that he missed the 3-2 win against Golden Arrows this past weekend.

It is not clear how long the player will be out of action but he remains a doubt for the crunch Nedbank Cup clash against log leaders Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

More bad news for the Brazilians supporters is that another defender Eduardo Ferreira is also on the casualty list with a knee injury sustained in the match against Arrows. The Sundowns medical team is still to access the extent of his injury.

Richard Henyekane took a knock on his hip and has been instructed to stay off physical work-out as he is badly bruised and will be assessed again on Wednesday. Lionel Mutizwa also suffered a right ankle injury during the same match.

Players who are fighting to get back to full fitness are Lebohang ‘Cheeseboy’ Mokoena, who is recovering from a pulled hamstring and Franklin Cale, who is recovering from an ankle injury. “The medical team is working around the clock to clear the sick bay at Chloorkop,” said Sundowns in a statement.
